Account Manager Travel Industry

This role is to support Carnet’s t rapid expansion in the Business to Business (B2B) car rental solutions market.  Reporting to the Head of Account Management, the individual will be in the account management team which is responsible for managing and growing a rapidly expanding client base of leading travel companies to whom we provide car rental solutions. This is a great opportunity for an experienced account manager in the travel/tourism industry to manage and develop a diverse portfolio of client accounts (including national, regional and global tour operators, online & retail travel agencies, hotel chains, destination management companies) for a growing, small and young business operating within TUI Travel’s Accommodation & Destinations Sector. To succeed in this role you will need a proven track record in B2B account management within the travel/tourism industry and be driven by achieving ambitious targets and maximising sales opportunities.      

Main Responsibilities:
- Account management of existing clients, identifying opportunities to increase sales revenue and profitability through product and service offerings and ensuring repeat business through exceptional relationship building, understanding client requirements and effective negotiation of contracts
- Prepare, develop and execute tactical sales and marketing plans to support the achievement of objectives
- Develop relationships and build networks with clients and key stakeholders within the business (including IT, Supplier Relations, Pricing and Customer Service & Operations teams) to ensure continuous development of new and improved products, and effective execution and management of accounts
- Keep up to date with the market, client and competitor environment including trends, products, client needs, sales strategies & channels, promotional programs and strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats, taking appropriate action to optimize business performance 
- Ongoing analysis and reporting of sales and account performance, including risks and opportunities 
- Negotiate, prepare and maintain commercial terms and contracts, addendums, and other legal documents 
- Keep up to date with product related issues, proactively taking action and working with clients to minimize the impact on the business 
- Represent the business at trade shows, fairs and other industry events as needed and directed by the Director, Sales & Supplier Relations
- Manage sales budgets and provide input to the budgeting and forecasting processes 
- Database administration of clients, using CRM techniques 
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as requested.      
 
To be successful in this role, we are looking for someone with the following:   
- At least 3 years’ sales management experience in the B2B market within the travel/tourism industry including a proven track record of increasing sales through existing clients, and key account management 
- Fluent in English with excellent communication and presentation skills (verbal and written). Additional languages (particularly German and / or another major European language) are advantageous given the individual will be managing customers internationally 
- A general understanding and interest in technology, particularly the features and benefits of different IT and web based solutions to connect and store data (e.g. XML, white label websites)   - Strong business acumen and negotiation skills - able to drive insights, make commercially sound decisions and reach mutually beneficial agreements through a deep understanding of clients, the market, key business drivers and financial indicators   
- A proactive, results-oriented individual who is comfortable working on their own initiative and driven by working towards targets 
- Strong collaboration skills, customer and team focused, with the ability to engage and influence key decision makers 
- Exceptional organizational and project management skills. The individual needs to be detail orientated, take ownership and have a methodical approach to the management and maintenance  of accounts 
- Comfortable managing multiple projects and activities in a demanding and rapidly changing business environment 
- Knowledgeable about, the travel/tourism industry (or a particular segment such as car rental, hotels, tour operations, online or retail travel agencies) with a good understanding of market dynamics, trends and key players 
- Excellent knowledge of MS Office applications (Word, Excel & PowerPoint). Experience with CRM tools would be advantageous 
- Experience working across multiple countries and regions and cultural awareness having worked with different businesses across is advantageous 
- Flexible and adaptable to travel, including overnight stays, as required (@ 20 – 30% of time on average)
