Job Description:
This position reports directly to Senior Buyer and Germany Branch Director.
The ideal candidates should have experience in sourcing and building vendor relationships, planning product cycles, and selling online is preferred. The right candidates will be flexible, action and results oriented, self-starting, have strong analytical skills, and be comfortable with computer databases and tools. He or she must have a proven track record in taking ownership, driving results and moving with speed to implement ideas in a fast-paced environment.
This position in based in Berlin.
Responsibilities:
• Executes sales, margin and inventory plans
• Establishes strong relationships with new vendors to ensure availability and timely delivery of merchandise
• Manages all aspects of the merchandise offering – selection, negotiation, contracting.
• Develops customer driven assortments in line with Company’s Assortment Policy
• Ensures that merchandise selection matches customer needs, customer orientation and satisfaction
• Ensures that merchandise mix balances quantity, style, size and price consistent with company and market requirements
• Monitors performance versus plan to identify trend opportunities
• Develops and maintains relationships with vendors.
• Manages vendor performance to maximize profitability and achieve financial objectives
• Selects products to minimize cancelations of orders.
• Ensures promotional execution accuracy (pricing, signage, etc.)
• Handles high volume of communications with vendors
• Evaluates inventory and brand performance
• Approves all scheduled events according to daily deadlines to ensure best possible presentation and sell through
• Makes intelligent purchase decisions through strong understanding of industry trends, customer demand and historical quantitative data
• Adjusts buying tactics to market trends and dynamic, opportunity-based buying environment
Skill/Experience Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree or 3 years relevant experience plus:
• Experience in online retail, with background in sales, planning or buying
• Proven history as a deal closer
• Strong project management skills, and ability to handle multiple priorities
• 2-3 years manufacturers and vendors negotiation experience
• High-level manufacturers and vendors contacts
• Ability to think strategically and tactically
• Proactive attitude, ability to react to unforeseen situations
• Ability to work cross-departmentally to support overall company goals
• Flexibility to take on new categories and succeed across a range of product categories
• Ability to work cross-functionally to achieve goals through collaboration with marketing
• World class negotiation skills, ability to engage vendors
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Strong quantitative and analytical skills
• Able to effectively communicate in English, in both written and oral forms
