For our headquarters in Dusseldorf, Germany, we’re looking for an experienced developer to manage and further improve our core hotel data. We want someone to increase the amount and quality of metadata we have by analysing, investigating and interpreting data delivered by our partners and match these to our hotel data. If you have experience with fuzzy string matching, utilizing text retrieval, machine learning and other optimization techniques, and are confident tackling over 700,000 hotels worth of data then we want to hear from you!   Your tasks: Evaluate partners’ datasets for potential inclusion into the trivago hotel search.Develop and optimize intelligent algorithms to determine matching of entities in 31 languages.Leverage big data and machine learning techniques to improve our automated matching process.Improve the overall quality of our hotel information by developing systems that reduce the risk of duplicate data. We encourage thinking outside the box!Experiment with our cutting edge technologies to investigate and correct anomalies within the data.Analyse and improve efficiency, scalability and stability of our current processes by taking them apart and rebuilding them in your own innovative way.Become the technical interface for our content-related development teams and technical account managers and help them decipher all matching related issues.  Your profile: You’ve completed a degree in Computer Science or relevant apprenticeship.You are a skilled developer with 2+years’ experience in PHP. You have expertise in at least one other programming language like Java or C++ as it will give you the freedom to test new ideas and challenge status quo.You are confident using MySQL.You are comfortable communicating in English (our company language). German language skills would be a plus.You are an analytical thinker and genuinely enjoy playing with big datasets.
