Since 1988, eco-INSTITUT has been relied upon by European manufacturers to analyze the chemical emissions and content of built environment products and consumer goods.We are looking for our Lab facilities in Cologne Laboratory Manager (Lab Manager) (m/f) Manages and oversees operations of all textile testing laboratories of UL Consumer. Responsible for the development and achievement of operating plans, goals and budgets within a LeanSigma organization. Leads the employees and daily operations, responsible for the implementation of productivity improvements, maximize capacity through work sharing and to identify, share, and implement best practices strategies to improve Lab Operations. Partners with Conformity Assessment Services management to ensure customer satisfaction and achievement of business objectives. The Lab Manager directly reports into the Consumer Manager of UL Consumer.  JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Manages the development and maintenance of state-of-the-art laboratory equipmentAnalysis of textile and consumer goodsStrong experience in GC/MS- und LC/MS-analysisAssessment of test resultsMeets customer’s expectations, explores customer’s needs, seeks for improvementsStrong background in economics and awareness for key performance indicatorsDevelops a competent Laboratory by overseeing the selection, development, training and employee relations activitiesMaintains an employee/team contingency and succession planDevelops employee/team performance measures and goals in support of the global vision and goalsManages the performance of direct reports by defining accountabilities, establishing performance objectives, providing career counseling, feedback and guidance, ensuring understanding of and compliance with all policies and requirementsCoordinates of laboratory activities within the division in the laboratory Promotes a lean learning environment. Identifies supports and integrates Lean Sigma continuous improvement opportunities into all aspects of the job and throughout the organization. Leads employees to openly suggest, promote and embrace changes.   HIRE-IN: University degree in Chemistry or related field plus generally related experience.Demonstrated ability to manage department objectives, staffing and budgets.Detailed knowledge of textile testing methodologies.Detailed knowledge of industry issues, needs, and problems.LeanSigma experience (qualified green -, black belt)Fluent in German & English
