Amazon Germany was launched in 1998, and Toys was brought to Germany in 2004. Today, the Toy category is a substantial business unit, both for Amazon and also in the German Toy marketplace, having consistently achieved double digit growth year on year, alongside maintaining mature vendor relationships. This highly seasonal business consists of all toys i.e. Games & Puzzles, RC Vehicles, Outdoor Toys, Infant & Preschool toys, Plush and Building Sets. We are now looking for an experiences and talented Business Unit Leader (m/f) for the Toys Category The Business Unit Leader, Toys DE will lead the business, and maintain ownership over operational levers including onsite customer experience, selection and merchandising on the demand side; vendor management, buying and inventory on the supply side, set the business direction and drive the execution to grow the business and deliver results. S/he will be an integral part of the European Hardlines and German country team. Alongside driving the broader agenda with the Global Toys community through hosting the annual Global Toys meeting. The Category Lead Toys DE is recognised as a thought leader with regards to the future direction of all Toys initiatives, and will also be the European Subject Matter Expert for Lego. Due to the exceptional seasonality of this business, inventory management is key. The candidate will therefore be expected to help drive change around planning and forecasting tools for seasonal businesses, especially around the critical holiday season. The Toys leader will further lead the transition towards a mature category and be able to drive strategic long-term relationships with vendors where Amazon increasingly is the largest customer. As a leader in this rapidly growing territory, S/he will have regular contact with the DE management team, EU Hardlines teams and also our Seattle headquarters. S/he will report to the Group Category Director for Kitchen, Home, Automotive & Toys. Why this will be fun? S/he will be responsible for local strategic and tactical activities, deepening mature vendor relationships alongside developing game changing products and services to improve customer experience. This role will have a relentless focus on customer service, convenience, selection, price and innovation.
