Underwriter Aviation (m/f) In this role you will be responsible for maintaining and developing a profitable book of Facultative Reinsurance business on a global basis. You learn about aviation (re)insurance and analyse the business until own responsibility for customer segment is assigned. The role includes underwriting risks within own authorities as well as actively building and cultivating a network of contacts with brokers and clients with the aim to develop new business submissions as well as to ensure renewals. The opportunity Client focus: * Develop and maintain a strategic dialogue with client and brokers * Establish a network to producers and clients * Negotiate with brokers and clients * Keep contact with global client manager for selected strategic key accounts Business focus: * Underwrite the business. Assess the risk, coverage, terms and conditions. Rate the business within the available rating tool landscape * Triage new submissions, identify opportunities to position Swiss Re at the earliest possible stage * Liaise with different client managers/executives and other internal resources to clarify various issues * Communicate proactively, timely and with transparency with clients and brokers in order to set the foundation for a positive outcome * Underwrite the business within guideline contest efficiently and effectively. Where suitable, gather corresponding guideline exemptions * Negotiate with clients and brokers in cooperation with the market responsible Compliance and controlling: * Ensures compliance with all SR guidelines, underwriting and pricing parameters, best practices as well as code of conduct * Ensures that relevant group, divisional and BU deadlines are met * Working closely with Claims, Business Support and other functions within the Swiss Re Group (referral bodies, product development units, etc.) * Completing all underwriting processes and ensuring that formal business workflows are maintained About you * University degree or equivalent with a strong business component preferred * Knowledge in underwriting of general aviation, aerospace or airline business, ideally with 5 years' experience * Excellent written and verbal communication skills in German & English * Good interpersonal, intercultural and social skills (communication, persuasiveness, team spirit) * Self-starter, ability and willingness to take initiative and implement measures in a goal-oriented manner * Ability to co-ordinate within teams and build consensus around client or deal approach * Ability to define Swiss Re's value to clients * Able to manage time and work efficiently and co-ordinate activities with other team members About us This is your opportunity to join one of the world's leading reinsurers.
