Fundraising for Science and Research – Join the Team! Our client is one of the most highly ranked scientific research organizations in the world and headquartered in the southern half of Germany. The organization’s Office of Resource Development raises private support for priority projects from individuals, foundations and companies and wants to grow its team by either an Officer or a Senior Officer of Resource Development. You will cultivate and steward your own prospect portfolio with a focus on major gifts and take responsibility to develop a plan and execute a strategy to generate fundraising income from your portfolio. Together with your team members, you will actively support shared fundraising activities such as conceptualization of fundraising events and programs, event staffing, communications and marketing. As Officer or Senior Officer of Resource Development, you will report to the Head of Resource Development and work closely with all other members of the fundraising team. Main responsibilities Communicate the organization’s case for support and the strategic importance of its fundraising projects in German and EnglishCooperate with expert scientists and project leaders to ensure that fundraising projects are prepared and executed professionallyCooperate with the prospect researcher on identifying and researching major gift prospects (individuals, foundations, companies, organizations) in Germany, Europe and beyondDevelop individual contact strategies for prospectsMeet and cultivate prospectsManage cultivation and stewardship events for major donors and prospectsCooperate with the prospect researcher on maintaining the organization’s fundraising databaseQualification and Experience For hire as Senior Officer of Resource Development: Min. 5 years of professional experience in successful major gift fundraisingFamiliarity with techniques of major donor identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardshipTrack record of working directly or indirectly with high-level philanthropic donorsFor hire as Officer of Resource Development: Min. 5 years of professional experience in either fundraising or a related field and function such as key account management or salesTrack record of working directly or indirectly with upper-level leadersFor both positions: Excellent command of both written and spoken German (preferably native speaker) and EnglishExperience in preparing and writing persuasive letters, proposals, reports and presentations in German and English languageExcellent oral and written communication and presentation skillsExcellent interpersonal skillsAbility to handle sensitive and confidential information professionallyRelevant university degree Good command of an additional European language is desirableExperience living and working in Germany is desirableTraining in a science discipline is not required, but beneficialEstablished network of contacts is not required, but beneficialOur offer, how to get in touch and learn more Our client is an inclusive, equal opportunity employer offering attractive conditions and benefits appropriate to an international research organization.
