We currently have an opening at our headquarters in Hamburg for aNetwork Engineer (m/f) The Site Operations team is responsible for ensuring 24/7 operation of
the XING platform. We support XING’s physical and virtual servers, manage the
back-up and storage systems, databases and the data centre’s entire network.
There are around 20 people in
our team who work on our databases, hosting and services, network and technical
risk management processes. We use Chef to manage our infrastructure, and are
fans of automation and monitoring. We mainly use Ubuntu Linux as our operating
system, MySQL for our databases and Ruby on Rails and Perl for our
applications. Our network consists of Cisco, Juniper and the occasional
appliance. We are a full RIPE member, run our own AS and peer at DE-CIX.
A challenging task:
You have
the chance to work on an enterprise-grade, high availability platform with over
14 million users.You take
care of maintaining and improving the data centre network.You will
monitor and manage network traffic loads through appropriate routing
configuration.You manage
the load distribution through load balancing policies.You provide
monitoring, disaster recovery and network hardware support.You rapidly
troubleshoot network outages and problems and will effectively transfer
technical information to our IT teams.You will
participate in projects to improve the degree of automation with the goal of a software-defined
network.
A convincing background:
You have
experience in supporting Cisco/Juniper Switches/Routers (iOS, Nexus, Junos) and
firewalls (ASA, SRX) in an enterprise environment.You have already
supported routing protocols (BGP, MPLS, IPSEC, OSPF, etc). You’re into agile methodologies in
general, and you enjoy sharing knowledge.You’re used
to and willing to support on-call rotation. You feel responsible for emergency
situations and are willing to lend your support when maintenance would impact
critical business processes.You’re goal-driven as well as
passionate about and brilliant at solving challenging problems.You’re able to communicate effectively
in English (German is a plus)
